The Most Romantic Things to Do in Amsterdam

So, it has finally happened. You’ve been with the same girl for three years now, and in all that time, you’ve been thinking about nothing but the perfect vacation with her. After some serious preparation, along with (A LOT OF) prodding from your mother, your sister, and all your common friends, you’ve finally worked up enough courage to save up for that vacation. To top it all off, you’ve chosen your city of destination – Amsterdam.
But of course, what to do in this city? What are the possibilities for you and your lover as you tour around the city? Here’s the lowdown on what you can possibly do in Amsterdam (as well as some tips on how to pop the question, hint, hint).

Night Tour in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is the perfect place for a night tour

First: see the city at night. Have you ever tried touring your own city and you only got stressed out with all the buildings that never seemed to end, reminding you only of office tasks and mundane routines? Well, you won’t have to worry about that when you’re in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is the perfect place for a night tour. Romance will certainly at the top of your list when you take this city tour.

Second: take a private Amsterdam canal cruise. Needless to say, it will most likely cost you a few euros than intended. But of course, it doesn’t really matter, as long as at the end of the day the reason for your spending is the one you love, right? It’s a no-brainer – hiring a private boat and guide to cruise Amsterdam’s canals is much more romantic than sitting next to strangers on a massive group boat. Aboard one of the quaint “salon boats,” you and your significant other can enjoy a private dinner or just sip champagne as you float along Amsterdam’s waters.

Flowers in Amsterdam

Third: shower your loved one with flowers. When you’re in Amsterdam, you will definitely realize that the world where you came from just happened to deprive you of all the best flowers in the world. While that may be exaggerating it a little, you will have to see for yourself just how amazing the flowers in Amsterdam are. So, since you are going to be in Amsterdam for a bit over two weeks, why not make the stay more romantic by filling your hotel room with flowers to surprise your loved one?

Fourth: buy a fresh-cut diamond. Here’s the part where you get tips on how to pop the question. First of all, don’t ever think of popping the question with a mediocre ring and a mediocre diamond. Of course, no one’s asking you to get her a diamond fit for royalty; only that you get her something that’s worthy of the beautiful and amazing woman that she is. In Amsterdam, this means taking diamond cutting and polishing tours from Coster or Gassan, and then looking at the fruits of their labor and choosing from them. Surely, your woman will be more than grateful and it’ll bring you to your much-desired ‘yes’.

Red Light District

Fifth: tour the Red Light District together. Well, of course this might sound a little crude. But then again, if you’re looking to add a little more spark and spice to your relationship, then this will definitely serve to give you that. In touring the Red Light District together, you’ll see sights from the Sex Museum, or from the Red Light Secrets Museum of Prostitution, and then you’ll both realize how lucky you are to have found true love in each other.

So, here’s to you, your loved one, and to your Amsterdam trip together.
